Coffee Lover (08-14-2009)
I 've pulled shots from various domestic machines - Sunbeam Cafe Series Programmable Espresso, Breville Cafe Roma ESP8C, Krups Novo 2100 and Delonghi EC410. The Domus Due beats them all hands down provided you do it correctly. The espresso pour from the Domus Due is thick dark brown with rich crema - wonderful aroma & taste fantastic comparable to those I had from commercial machines. Can't comment on the frother as I don't use this function for my coffee.O. Wow (10-20-2008)
I've had my Domus Due for over a year now. I'm totally satisfied. Machine is ready to make a perfect espresso within seconds. Same with frothing milk. Actually the only glitch is the weight of the PF aluminium handle which is much too light, to my taste. Regardless of this minor detail, I give it 5 stars.Semi-automatics are the result of the Achilles Gaggia patent in 1938 that mated an electric pump system to the espresso machine. It matched the pressure created by the manuals and enabled the masses to make high quality espresso in the home. Like the manual machines it has a portafilter handle that you fill with coffee, but it uses the pump to create the pressure instead of your arm power. A pump is very consistent in its delivery. It is this consistency that is so important to each extraction (brew).
